Star Wars: L'ascesa di Skywalker, film diretto da J.J. Abrams, è il terzo capitolo della nuova trilogia di Guerre Stellari ed è l'episodio finale epico dell'epopea su Skywalker. Un anno dopo gli eventi del precedente film, Gli ultimi Jedi, la Resistenza sopravvissuta o quello che ne rimane affronta ancora una volta il Primo Ordine. Dopo che la Resistenza è stata decimata dal Primo Ordine, si tentano nuove alleanze: per questo vediamo per la prima volta Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac) e Rey uniti per combattere fianco a fianco. Dal passato tornano nuove minacce, come Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), il cui trono si erge minaccioso nel trailer, circondato dai ghiacci. Non si sa però quale sia la forma che l'Imperatore prenderà in questo film.
