Up è un film Disney d’animazione diretto da Pete Docter e Bob Peterson, uscito nel 2009. Mentre Carl corre con il suo palloncino blu per le strade del suo quartiere, immaginando spericolate avventure, sente una voce provenire da una strana casa; quando si avvicina, incontra Ellie, una bambina il cui sogno è quello di andare in Venezuela alle Cascate Paradiso, luogo in cui Muntz aveva rinvenuto uno scheletro di un uccello gigante, rivelatosi poi un falso. Quella sera Carl promette a Ellie che un giorno la porterà alle Cascate Paradiso.
