Downton Abbey, film diretto da Michael Engler, è basato sulla popolarissima serie TV britannica, ambientata all’inizio del XX Secolo nello Yorkshire. Protagonista è ancora una volta la famiglia Crawley e la servitù che lavora per essa presso la splendida tenuta Downton Abbey nella campagna inglese. Siamo nel 1927 quando un evento sconvolge la quiete del gruppo aristocratico: il conte di Grantham, Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville), riceve una lettera direttamente da Buckingham Palace, nella quale viene comunicato che re Giorgio V e la sua famiglia reale faranno visita alla dimora. Questo vuol dire che i veri reali soggiorneranno da coloro che hanno sempre vissuto da reali.
