Woody ha sempre saputo quale fosse il suo posto nel mondo e la sua priorità è sempre stata prendersi cura del suo bambino, che si trattasse di Andy o di Bonnie. Quando Forky, il nuovo progetto scolastico di Bonnie trasformato in un giocattolo, si autodefinisce "spazzatura” e non giocattolo, Woody decide di mostrargli gli aspetti positivi di questa nuova vita. Ma quando Bonnie porta con sé tutta la banda di giocattoli in un viaggio con la sua famiglia, Woody fa un’inaspettata deviazione, che lo porta a ritrovare la sua amica scomparsa da tempo, Bo Peep.
