Tratto dal manga di Fumiyo Kouno che racconta la storia di Suzu Urano a Kure, Hiroshima, durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. La protagonista è infatti una giovane giapponese, sognatrice e piena di vita, che va in sposa a un dipendente del Ministero della Giustizia nella città di Kure subito prima dello sgancio della bomba atomica, nei drammatici giorni del conflitto che ha segnato in maniera profonda e indelebile la storia del Giappone. A Kure, Suzu incontrerà così una nuova amica, Rin Shiroki, una nuova famiglia, una nuova città e, infine, il suo nuovo mondo.
