Due sconosciuti si incontrano al check-in di un aeroporto prima di imbarcarsi sull'ultimo volo disponibile. Alex è una fotoreporter in viaggio per partecipare alle sue nozze, Ben è un medico di ritorno per un'operazione chirurgica prevista il giorno seguente. Quando il volo viene annullato per maltempo, Alex propone a Ben di affittare un piccolo aereo privato. In piena tempesta, però, il pilota ha un malore e perde il controllo dell'aereo che precipita sulle montagne del Colorado. Alex e Ben sopravvivono nonostante le ferite, ma sanno che a causa di un errore del pilota i soccorsi non arriveranno e la loro unica possibilità è scendere a valle, alla ricerca del primo segno di civiltà.
