Il dodicenne Victor Bogomil vive da solo con il nonno, guardiano di uno stabile. Passa la maggior parte del tempo a inventare storie incredibili: un giorno viene chiamata la polizia per dei ladri che irrompono in cantina, un giorno si chiamano i pompieri per un principio di incendio che minaccerebbe l'intero stabile e così via. Victor ha dunque una fervida immaginazione e chi lo circonda non ne può più.
