Spettacolare reboot della saga, ripropone la spaventosa leggenda della Mummia che ha affascinato e sedotto le culture di tutto il mondo, questa volta in chiave gotica e avventurosa e con uno spericolato Tom Cruise nei panni dell'eroico protagonista. Un gruppo di archeologi e militari, tra i quali Nick Morton (Tom Cruise), profana una cripta inesplorata nelle profondità del deserto, risvegliando inavvertitamente la creatura millenaria che vi è sepolta, la principessa Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella), il cui destino le è stato ingiustamente strappato via nel fiore degli anni. Il nome, che rievoca la dea egizia del Caos, dice molto sulle inquietanti intenzioni dell'antica regina: un tempo designata per governare l'Egitto, la giovane donna si lasciò accecare da un potere oscuro e demoniaco e venne per questo imprigionata nelle profondità del deserto.
