Nel 1970, il concorso di Miss Mondo ha luogo a Londra, presentato dal leggendario comico americano Bob Hope. Si tratta di una delle competizioni più viste al mondo, con oltre 100 milioni di spettatori in televisione. Con la convinzione che il concorso sia lesivo nei confronti della figura della donna, il neonato Movimento di Liberazione Femminista pianifica di invadere il parco e disturbare la diretta. Come se non bastasse, il concorso finisce per incoronare non la favorita svedese ma Miss Grenada, la prima donna di colore a vincere il titolo. In poche ore, gli spettatori di tutto il mondo saranno testimoni di un cambiamento epocale.
