C'era una volta a... Hollywood, il nono film diretto da Quentin Tarantino, è ambinatato nella Los Angeles del 1969, e nel mondo del cinema in particolare. Protagonista è Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), un attore con alle spalle il successo arrivato grazie a una serie televisiva western degli anni Cinquanta e una serie di film azzeccati, ma che ora teme che la sua carriera possa essere arrivata al capolinea. Ciò nonostante è restio ad accettare l'offerta di un produttore di recitare in uno spaghetti western in Europa, ritenendo il progetto non alla sua altezza.
