Trama:
Jack, una adolescente problematica seguita da un assistente sociale, ha bisogno di comportarsi bene quando ottiene come lavoro quello di occuparsi di Gloria, una bambina affetta da una grave forma di autismo. Intenzionata a rimanere in casa della piccola giusto un paio di settimane per fare un po' di soldi, Jack è sconvolta nel vedere l'impatto positivo che ha nella vita di Gloria. La stessa Jack, inoltre, subisce il fascino materno di Kay, la madre della bambina. Ben presto, però, con la legge che non ammette deroghe e man mano che emergono alcune verità sul suo conto, Jack sarà costretta a fare una scelta.
