Rullo di tamburi, rombo di motori, per l'action comedy dal ritmo incalzante firmato Edgar Wright, Baby Driver - Il genio della fuga. Per contrastare il fastidioso ronzio che fin da bambino risuona nelle orecchie, il giovanissimo pilota Baby (Ansel Elgort) inforca le cuffie e spinge sull'acceleratore dell'auto. La guida spericolata per vicoli strettissimi e strade trafficate, insegue le evoluzioni della traccia: l'auto frena, slitta, sgomma con sottofondo di pneumatici fumanti e assoli di chitarra. Il talento al volante fa di lui l'autista di fiducia, nonché inconsueto portafortuna, del misterioso Doc (Kevin Spacey), leader di una banda di rapinatori di banche e stratega sopraffino. Anche se per la faccia pulita e la testa tra gli accordi il ragazzo fatica a farsi apprezzare dagli altri criminali. In particolare Bats (Jamie Foxx), testa calda dal grilletto facile, si mostra scettico e diffidente nei suoi confronti e si diverte a testarne il valore attraverso una serie di subdole provocazioni. Nonostante abbia imboccato la strada del crimine, Baby ha in fondo un'indole onesta e compassionevole, e farà di tutto per proteggere dai pericoli a cui lo espone il mestiere la dolce Debora (Lily James), la cameriera di cui è innamorato. Anche tentare un'impresa mai provata prima: rallentare e provare a sganciarsi da quell'ultima, rischiosa rapina destinata al fallimento.
