Stanley White, un capitano di polizia reduce del Vietnam, ha l'incarico di indagare su una serie di delitti compiuti a Chinatown, il quartiere cinese di New York, dopo l'uccisione del leader della malavita locale, Jakie Wong, attribuiti a bande di giovani criminali. Ancora carico di risentimento per l'insuccesso americano in Asia, da cui lui, pur oriundo polacco, ha riportato un odio indiscriminato e viscerale per i "musi gialli", White accetta di ripulire a fondo il quartiere, senza esclusione di colpi, credendo di potersi avvalere dell'aiuto di una avvenente e audace giornalista televisiva, Tracy Tzu.
