Come tanti sposini, anche Ray e Polly Cutter vanno in viaggio di nozze alle famose cascate. Là fanno conoscenza di una coppia in crisi: il marito, George, ha perso tutti i soldi per un fallimento ed è tornato malato dalla guerra di Corea. La moglie Rose non cessa di irriderlo e di tradirlo.
