Si avvicina Natale e tutti i genitori sono alla ricerca del regalo per i propri figli. Di questo importante compito si dimentica invece Howard Langston, troppo impegnato negli affari al punto da disertare la cerimonia d'assegnazione dei premi di karate cui partecipa il figlio Jamie. Howard promette allora al figlio di regalargli Turbo Man, un pupazzo meccanico che va per la maggiore. Alla vigilia va ad acquistarlo, ma, da un negozio all'altro, tutti espongono il cartello "esaurito". Comincia allora una caccia sempre più affannosa alla ricerca di un esemplare del pupazzo, una caccia nella quale Howard deve vedersela con il postino Myron, che si trova nella stessa situazione.
