Max (Anton Yelchin) non è più convinto della relazione con la fidanzata Evelyn (Ashley Greene) dopo che si sono trasferiti a vivere insieme. Caso vuole che a salvare Max dalla fatica di lasciarla sia uno strano incidente in cui Evelyn perde la vita. Tornato single e nuovamente alla caccia, dopo un paio di settimane Max incontra Olivia (Alexandra Daddario), colei che potrebbe essere la sua perfetta anima gemella.
