Trama:
Bernadette Bassenger, Mitzi Del Bra, e Felicia Jollygoodfellow sono i nomi d\'arte di Ralph, Anthony Belrose ed Adam Whitely, una transessuale e due drag queen che si esibiscono nei gay bar di Sydney. Dopo la morte del compagno di Bernadette, le tre partono alla volta di Alice Springs per esibirsi al Lasseters Hotel Casino, del quale la ex-moglie di Tick è direttore. Come mezzo di trasporto, le tre adottano un vecchio torpedone che battezzano \"Priscilla, la regina del deserto\".
Durante il viaggio attraverso l\'outback australiano, dialoghi ed esperienze si intrecciano tra Bernadette, Tick ed Adam. Un guasto al motore le ferma in mezzo al deserto e il trio s\'allarga accogliendo Bob, un meccanico di larghe vedute che le aiuta a rimettere in sesto la sgangherata Priscilla. Arrivati ad Alice Spring, si scopre che Tick ha un figlio di otto anni, Benjamin, che accetta in modo sorprendentemente maturo il padre gay. Finito il ciclo di spettacoli, il bambino torna a Sidney col padre ed Adam, mentre Bernadette e Bob provano ad approfondire il loro rapporto.
