Trama:
La vita di John Brennan (Russell Crowe) sembra perfetta fino a quando sua moglie, Lara (Elizabeth Banks), viene arrestata e condannata per un omicidio che sostiene di non aver commesso. A tre anni dalla condanna, John continua a battersi per tenere unita la famiglia, a crescere il loro unico figlio, Luke (Ty Simpkins) e a svolgere il suo lavoro di insegnante in un college pubblico, tentando sempre di dimostrare l'innocenza della moglie con ogni mezzo a disposizione. Quando la Corte Suprema respinge il loro ultimo appello, Lara tenta il suicidio e John decide che è rimasta solamente una soluzione possibile: organizzare l'evasione della moglie dalla prigione.
