Determinata a costruirsi la propria strada nella vita, Merida si oppone a una secolare tradizione sacra ai signori della terra: il massiccio Lord MacGuffin, il burbero Lord Macintosh e l'irascibile Lord Dingwall. Le azioni di Merida involontariamente scatenano il caos e la furia del regno, e quando si rivolge a una eccentrica donna anziana, Wise Woman, per chiederle aiuto, il suo sfortunato desiderio viene esaudito.
