Rracconta la storia del Dr. Michael Morbius, un anti-eroe tratto dai fumetti Marvel Comics e creato dalla penna di Roy Thomas inizialmente come antagonista di Spider-Man. Interpretato da Jared Leto, Morbius è un biochimico affetto da una rarissima malattia ematologica. Quando prova a inventare una cura per il suo disturbo, qualcosa nel suo esperimento va storto e il dottore si infetta con una forma di vampirismo, assumendo l'aspetto e le abilità soprannaturali di queste oscure creature. È così che il dottor Morbius, inizialmente incerto se lasciarsi morire o nutrirsi di sangue umano, si ritrova a dover imparare a controllare l'assetato mostro che vive dentro di lui...Accanto a Leto nel cast del cinecomic anche Adria Arjona nei panni di Martine Bancroft, fidanzata del protagonista, e Matt Smith, che ricopre il ruolo di Loxias Crown, amico di Morbius che soffre della sua stessa malattia.
