In Come ti ammazzo il bodyguard, Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds), una delle migliori guardie del corpo su piazza, è caduto in disgrazia a causa di un tragico incidente "sul lavoro": due anni prima un cliente giapponese è morto sotto la sua protezione e da allora Bryce non ha più accettato missioni e incarichi ad alto rischio. Questa volta però, l'uomo da tenere al sicuro è l'ex assassino prezzolato Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson), detestato nemico di lunga data, protetto molesto e indisponente che non perde occasione per seminare, infilzare e tempestare di proiettili il povero bodyguard. A Bryce non rimane che parare i colpi e sposare la causa: lasciare l'Inghilterra prima di finire nelle mani del folle dittatore dell'Est Europa Vladislav Dukhovich (Gary Oldman) che li vuole morti entrambi. Hanno ventiquattr'ore di tempo per riuscirci, un'alleanza più o meno salda, un grilletto rapido e letale. Ma le chance di sopravvivenza sono drasticamente ridotte dalla possibilità che finiscano per ammazzarsi a vicenda.
