L'agente K è un blade runner della polizia di Los Angeles, nell'anno 2049. Sono passati trent'anni da quando Deckart faceva il suo lavoro. I replicanti della Tyrell sono stati messi fuori legge, ma poi è arrivato Niander Wallace e ha convinto il mondo con nuovi "lavori in pelle": perfetti, senza limiti di longevità e soprattutto obbedienti. K è sulle tracce di un vecchio Nexus quando scopre qualcosa che potrebbe cambiare tutte le conoscenze finora acquisite sui replicanti, e dunque cambiare il mondo. Per esserne certo, però, dovrà andare fino in fondo. Come in ogni noir che si rispetti dovrà, ad un certo punto, consegnare pistola e distintivo e fare i conti da solo con il proprio passato.
