Trama:
Il giovane C.J. è un giornalista alla ricerca di uno scoop per salvare il posto di lavoro. È convinto di poter dimostrare la corruzione del procuratore Mark Hunter, capo dell'amata Ella e prossimo a divenire governatore della Lousiana. Hunter, che non perde un processo da anni, la spunta sempre all'ultimo minuto presentando delle prove che C.J. è convinto costruisca ad hoc, con l'aiuto di un collaborare e uomo di forza. Deciso ad incastrarlo, il ragazzo si fa arrestare per l'omicidio di una prostituta di colore, chiede a un amico di filmare ogni cosa e attende che il procuratore porti in aula le prove contraffatte per smascherarlo. Ma il suo non è un piano perfetto.
