Ferdinando è un magnifico toro che adora i fiori e odia combattere. È cresciuto in un allevamento di tori da corrida mas è l'unico degli ospiti a non morire dalla voglia di andare a morire nell'arena, forse perché ha visto suo padre partire e non tornare più, e qualcosa gli suggerisce che non siano sempre i tori a trionfare contro il matador. Da torellino dunque è fuggito ed è stato accolto da Nina, una bambina il cui padre alleva fiori: è il paradiso per Ferdinand, ma quando diventerà adulto un equivoco lo riporterà sulla strada della competizione. Riuscirà il gigante buono ad affermare la propria natura pacifica?
